Enormous credit must go to D & D Construction (the Builder), Hayward McMullan Associates (the Architect), M.B. Lane Partnership (the Quantity Surveyor), MPA Broughton (the Structural Engineer), and Melton Borough Council (Building Control) for working together to produce such a wonderful community building.
But it’s not just about the building. These awards also reflect the excellent community spirit we have in Eastwell and they are a reward for all the support and encouragement given throughout the building project.
The new hall was built thanks to funding from the BIG Lottery, WREN and a number of local organisations including Leicestershire County Council, Eaton Parish Council, and Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation. The innovative design was also recognized last year in the final of the Pride of Leicestershire Awards.
At the recent East Midlands Local Authority Building Control Awards, Eastwell Village Hall scooped two prestigious design awards. As well as winning the special Chairman’s Award, the Hall was also Highly Commended in the Public Service Building category.
The judges stated: “Eastwell Village Hall stood out because it demonstrates that it not only embraces excellent performance and environmental credentials, but is also able to adapt for multi-purpose use which will make a massive difference to the small village community that will benefit from its facilities and assist in sustaining the wonderful community spirit that is evident.”
